White Wisteria (Wisteria floribunda ‘Alba’)

A graceful, deciduous climber with cascading clusters of white, lightly fragrant flowers, often carrying a delicate pinkish-lilac blush. A beautiful choice for pergolas, arches, walls and sturdy trellises.

Growing conditions:
🌿 Light: Full sun is best for abundant flowering, although it will tolerate some light shade.
🌱 Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Avoid areas where water tends to remain soggy.
💧 Water: Water regularly while establishing, particularly through dry summer periods. Once established, it is reasonably drought tolerant.
🌸 Feeding: Feed lightly with a balanced or phosphorus-rich fertiliser rather than high-nitrogen fertiliser, which can encourage leaves at the expense of flowers.
✂️ Pruning: Regular pruning is important to keep this vigorous climber manageable and encourage flowering. Pruning twice a year is recommended.
🏡 Support: Give it a very strong, permanent support such as a pergola, arch or sturdy trellis. Mature wisteria becomes surprisingly heavy.
❄️ Frost: Hardy and deciduous, losing its leaves in winter before producing fresh growth in spring.

Wisteria is a long-lived plant that may take time to settle in and flower, but once established it becomes an exceptional garden feature.
