Description
Turmeric thrives in warm, humid conditions and prefers well-drained, loamy soil with a pH between 4.5 and 7.5. It requires a temperature range of 20-30°C (68-86°F) and plenty of sunlight. Turmeric should be planted in a location protected from strong winds. Regular watering is essential, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. It’s typically grown from rhizomes, planted 5-10cm deep, with spacing of about 20-30cm between plants. Turmeric is a tropical plant and doesn’t tolerate frost, so it’s usually grown in regions with mild winters or as an indoor plant in colder climates.
