Description
This architectural plant is extremely low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and thrives on neglect, making it ideal for beginners or busy homes.
Description
Succulent with rigid, tubular leaves (up to 1–2cm thick) that grow upright or in a fan shape from a central base.
Leaves are pointy-tipped, gray-green with faint darker banding; slow-growing but long-lived.
Occasionally produces small greenish-white flowers on tall spikes (rare indoors).
Excellent air-purifier; often used as a table/desk plant, in modern interiors, or grouped for impact.
Growing Conditions
Light: Bright indirect light preferred; tolerates low light (but growth slows) and some direct morning sun. Avoid intense midday sun to prevent leaf scorching.
Water: Very infrequent — allow soil to dry out completely between waterings (every 2–6 weeks, depending on conditions). Overwatering causes root rot; underwatering is far safer.
Soil: Well-draining essential; use cactus/succulent mix, or standard potting soil amended with sand/perlite for extra drainage.
Pruning: Minimal needed; remove damaged leaves at base if they occur. Wipe dust off leaves occasionally for best appearance.
Other: Thrives when slightly rootbound; repot only when necessary (every few years). Fertilize lightly (half-strength cactus fertilizer) once or twice in growing season (spring/summer); skip in winter. Keep away from cold drafts; prefers warm, dry conditions.
