Description

🌰 Pecan Nut ‘Ukulinga’ – Growing Conditions

Light:
Plant your Pecan ‘Ukulinga’ in full sun for best nut production and strong growth. It needs at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Soil:
Thrives in deep, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Avoid waterlogged or shallow soils. Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.5) is ideal.

Water:
Requires regular watering during establishment and nut development. Once mature, trees become more drought-tolerant but still benefit from consistent moisture during dry periods.

Temperature:
‘Ukulinga’ is well-suited to warm, subtropical climates. It tolerates mild frost but prefers hot summers and cool winters for good nut set.

Fertilizer:
Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer high in nitrogen to promote healthy growth. Add compost or organic mulch annually to improve soil health.

Pollination:
Pecans are wind-pollinated and perform best when planted with another compatible variety for better nut yield.

Size:
A mature ‘Ukulinga’ pecan tree can grow up to 20–30 metres tall with a wide spreading canopy.

Fun Fact:
Did you know? Pecan trees can live and produce nuts for over 100 years, making them a true investment for the future! 🌳
