Sun:
Full sun to semi-shade. Performs best in partial shade but tolerates full sun with adequate water.
Water:
Moderate water needs. Water regularly when newly planted; once established, it is fairly drought-tolerant.

Growth:
Moderate growth rate. Forms dense, grass-like clumps and can slowly spread over time.
Features:
Strappy, evergreen foliage with spikes of purple, lavender, or white flowers in late summer to autumn. Followed by small dark berries.
Uses:
Ideal for borders, mass planting, edging pathways, underplanting trees, and groundcover. Excellent for stabilising soil on slopes.
Care:
Low maintenance. Trim back old or untidy foliage in late winter to encourage fresh new growth. Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigour.
Frost:
Frost-hardy. Handles light to moderate frost well.
Indigenous:
No – native to East Asia.
Edible:
No – not suitable for consumption.
