🌼 Hemerocallis – Day Lily
Sun: Full sun to partial shade. Best flowering with at least 4–6 hours of sunlight per day.
Water: Moderate water. Keep soil evenly moist during active growth, but avoid waterlogged conditions. Once established, it is fairly drought tolerant.
Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Height: ±40–90 cm, depending on variety.
Width: ±40–60 cm.
Growth: Clump-forming perennial with long, strap-like foliage and attractive lily-like flowers. Flowers generally last for one day, with new blooms opening successively.
Features: Easy-care, long-flowering and excellent for adding colour to borders and garden beds.
Uses: Ideal for borders, mass planting, pots and cottage-style gardens.
Care: Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring and after flowering. Remove spent flower stems and old foliage to encourage fresh growth. Divide overcrowded clumps every few years.
Frost: Frost tolerant once established; foliage may die back in colder areas and regrow in spring.
