Description
Trumpet Vine (Clytostoma callistegioides)
A vigorous climber with a tropical flair
Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Full sun encourages the best flowering display.
Water: Moderate watering. Water regularly during the growing season, but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings once established.
Soil: Prefers well-draining, fertile soil. Tolerates a variety of soil types if drainage is good.
Climate: Best suited to warm, frost-free regions, but can tolerate light frost once mature. Ideal for coastal and subtropical gardens.
Growth Habit: A fast-growing, evergreen vine with glossy green leaves and soft lavender-purple trumpet-shaped flowers with delicate purple veining. Blooms spring to autumn. Reaches up to 4–6 meters when supported.
Uses: Perfect for trellises, pergolas, fences, or to soften walls. Can also be trained as a lush groundcover on slopes.
Care Tip: Prune lightly after flowering to shape and control growth. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
