Botanical Name: Citrus × microcarpa (Variegated)
Common Name: Variegated Calamondin / Variegated Mini Orange
Light:
Full sun is ideal for best fruit production and vibrant variegation. It can tolerate light shade but may produce fewer fruits.
Watering:
Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the roots sit in water.
Soil:
Prefers well-draining soil. A loamy mix enriched with compost is ideal. Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0).
Climate:
Thrives in warm, subtropical to tropical climates. Protect from frost – ideal minimum temperature is above 5°C. Can be grown indoors in containers in colder regions.
Humidity:
Moderate humidity preferred. In dry areas, occasional misting or humidity trays can help.
Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced citrus fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
Pruning:
Light pruning can be done to shape the plant or remove dead wood. Best done in early spring.
