Growing Conditions
SUNLIGHT
Bright indirect light to partial shade; variegation intensifies with morning sun but afternoon shade prevents leaf scorch
WATERING
Water thoroughly when top 3-5cm of soil feels dry, approximately 2-3 times weekly in summer, reducing to once weekly in winter
SOIL TYPE
Well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix enriched with compost and perlite or coarse sand for aeration
TEMPERATURE
15–30°C, sensitive to frost and cold draughts below 10°C
HUMIDITY
Moderate to high humidity (50-70%); mist foliage occasionally or place on a pebble tray in dry conditions
FERTILISING
Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser (3:1:5) diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to autumn)
GROWTH RATE
Moderate growth rate, producing 20-30cm of new growth per season under optimal conditions
MATURE SIZE
1.0-1.5m height x 0.8-1.0m spread when container-grown; can reach 2m in ideal garden conditions
