Water: Low; drought tolerant once established. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Well-drained, sandy or well-composted soil. Tolerates poor soils.
Height: 10–20 cm

Growth: Fast-growing, spreading evergreen groundcover.
Flowering: Spring to autumn, with small bright pink to reddish-purple flowers.
Features: Succulent heart-shaped leaves, fast spreading, drought tolerant, attracts bees and butterflies, excellent for erosion control.
Indigenous: Yes – indigenous to South Africa.
Edible: Yes – the leaves and flowers are edible and have a mildly tangy flavour.
Care: Water until established, then reduce watering. Trim back regularly to maintain shape and prevent it from becoming too vigorous.
Frost: Frost sensitive; protect from severe frost.
Best for: Groundcover, rockeries, slopes, banks, hanging baskets, containers, walls and coastal gardens.
