Description
🌿 Tradescantia zebrina – Growing Conditions
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect sunlight, but can tolerate some direct morning light. In lower light, the vibrant purple and silver markings may fade.
Watering:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering – soggy soil can cause root rot. Reduce watering in cooler months.
Soil:
Thrives in well-draining potting mix. A standard indoor mix with added perlite or coarse sand works well.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 15°C to 25°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Humidity:
Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist occasionally or keep near other plants if air is dry.
Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. No need to fertilize in winter.
Growth & Maintenance:
Fast-growing trailing plant, perfect for hanging baskets. Pinch back stems regularly to encourage bushy growth. Can be easily propagated from cuttings.
