Description
🌸 Ranunculus asiaticus (Persian Buttercup) – Growing Conditions
- Light: Prefers full sun, at least 6 hours daily, for strong growth and abundant flowering.
- Soil: Loose, well-draining sandy or loamy soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid waterlogged conditions, as tubers can rot.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy during active growth and flowering. Reduce watering once foliage begins to yellow and plants go dormant.
- Temperature: Thrives in cool to mild climates. Ideal growing temperatures are between 10–20°C. Tubers may not tolerate frost and should be lifted or protected in very cold areas.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–3 weeks during the growing season to encourage lush growth and vibrant blooms.
- Planting Time: Plant tubers in late autumn to early spring. In warmer regions, autumn planting gives earlier, stronger flowering.
- Flowering Season: Late winter to spring.
- Special Care: Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting and storing tubers in a cool, dry place for the next season.
