Description

Osteospermum, commonly known as African Daisy, thrives in the following conditions:

  • Light: Full sun to partial shade.
  • Soil: Well-drained soil, preferably sandy or loamy. They can tolerate poor soils.
  • Water: Moderate watering; allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Drought-tolerant once established.
  • Temperature: Prefers mild climates; hardy in USDA zones 9-11. Can be grown as an annual in cooler climates.
  • Fertilizer: Light feeding with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season.
  • Pruning: Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. Cut back in late fall or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
  • Pests/Diseases: Generally pest-free, but watch for aphids and spider mites. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.

Ideal for borders, containers, and as ground cover, Osteospermum provides vibrant, daisy-like flowers from spring to fall.
