Description
Blechnum gibbum ‘Silver Lady’
Silver Lady Fern
Growing Conditions
Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light to partial shade. Can tolerate lower light conditions but avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the fronds.
Water:
Keep soil evenly moist, especially during active growth. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers high humidity. Mist regularly or place near a humidifier. Excellent for bathrooms, greenhouses, or shaded indoor areas.
Temperature:
Ideal temperatures are 18–25°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 12°C.
Soil:
Plant in well-draining, fertile, moisture-retentive soil. A mix of peat, compost, and perlite works well.
Feeding:
Apply a diluted liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce or stop feeding in autumn and winter.
Growth Habit:
Forms a compact, upright clump with striking silvery-green fronds that add texture and color contrast to any garden or indoor space.
Perfect For:
Indoor shaded spots, bathrooms, patios, and landscaped gardens requiring low-maintenance, ornamental ferns.
