Bird’s Nest Fern – Crispy Wave
Growing Conditions
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium light but avoid direct sun, which can scorch the fronds. Ideal for shaded patios or indoor spaces with filtered light.
Water:
Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry. Avoid pouring water directly into the centre “nest” to prevent rot.
Humidity:
Thrives in high humidity. Mist regularly or place near a humidifier. Perfect for bathrooms and kitchens with naturally higher moisture levels.
Temperature:
Enjoys warm conditions between 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, rich, moisture-retentive mix. Ideal blend: peat/coco coir, perlite, and a little compost.
Feeding:
Feed with a diluted liquid fern fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Growth Habit:
Forms a neat, upright rosette of ruffled, wavy fronds. Naturally compact, making it excellent for indoor décor and small spaces.
