Description
Australian Jungle Brake Fern – Growing Conditions
Light:
Prefers bright, filtered light or dappled shade. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate fronds. Excellent choice for shaded patios or indoor spaces with indirect light.
Water:
Keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy. Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry. This fern enjoys humidity—mist regularly or place near a humidifier for best results.
Soil:
Grows best in a rich, airy, well-draining mix. A premium potting soil blended with peat and fine bark works well. Avoid heavy soils that hold too much water.
Temperature:
Thrives in 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Humidity:
High humidity (60%+) is ideal. Perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, or sheltered outdoor spots.
Fertiliser:
Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Do not overfeed—ferns prefer light nutrition.
Growth Habit:
Forms a small tree-fern-like shape with upright, glossy, feathered fronds. Compact and elegant, ideal for indoor décor and shaded gardens.
Care Tips:
Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Remove old or yellowing fronds to keep it tidy.
Repot every 1–2 years for fresh soil and healthy growth.
