Description
Growing Conditions – Alocasia ‘Frydek’
Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun is acceptable, but avoid harsh midday rays which may bleach or burn the velvety leaves.
Water:
Keep soil consistently moist, watering when the top 2–3 cm of soil begins to dry. Do not let the plant sit in excess water. Reduce watering slightly in winter.
Humidity:
Prefers high humidity (60–80%). Ideal near a humidifier, grouped with other plants, or placed on a pebble tray to maintain lush foliage.
Temperature:
Best growth occurs between 18–28 °C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid exposing the plant to temperatures below 16 °C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix—potting soil combined with orchid bark and perlite. Soil should retain gentle moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Fertiliser:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser at half strength. Do not fertilise in winter.
Growth Habit:
A striking Alocasia with deep green, velvety leaves and pronounced white veins. Upright growth habit, making it a beautiful indoor statement plant.
Special Care:
Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and enhance the velvety appearance. Rotate monthly for even, balanced growth. Remove any yellowing leaves at the base.
