Lampranthus – Spectacular Succulent Blooms
Lampranthus is a striking succulent known for its vibrant, daisy-like flowers that bloom in a variety of colors, including pink, purple, orange, and yellow. Native to South Africa, this hardy, drought-tolerant plant is perfect for rock gardens, borders, or ground cover, providing a carpet of stunning color in the spring and summer months.
Growing Conditions:
Light: Lampranthus thrives in full sun, needing at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to encourage abundant flowering and healthy growth.
Soil: Prefers well-drained, sandy, or rocky soils. It does well in poor soils, provided they drain efficiently. Avoid heavy or clay soils that retain moisture.
Water: Highly drought-tolerant once established. Water only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering should be avoided, as it can cause root rot.
Temperature: This heat-loving succulent prefers warm, dry climates and can handle occasional light frost. In colder regions, it may need protection or be grown in containers to be moved indoors during winter.
Pruning: Trim back the plant after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage new growth. Removing dead or spent flowers also promotes further blooming.
Fertilizer: Lampranthus requires little to no feeding. If desired, apply a light, balanced fertilizer in spring to boost growth.
Spacing: Space plants about 30-60 cm apart to allow room
