Description

Fernleaf Lavender (Lavandula multifida) – Elegant Aromatic Beauty

Fernleaf Lavender, also known as Lavandula multifida, is a stunning, aromatic herb with finely divided, fern-like leaves and vibrant violet-blue flowers. Known for its rich fragrance and long-lasting blooms, this Mediterranean native brings charm to any garden or container setting. It’s an ideal choice for herb gardens, borders, and rockeries.

Growing Conditions:

Light: Prefers full sun; at least 6 hours of direct sunlight is recommended for optimal blooming and fragrance.

Soil: Well-drained, sandy or loamy soils with a slightly alkaline to neutral pH. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils as this can lead to root rot.

Water: Drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering should be avoided.

Temperature: Thrives in warm, sunny climates with good air circulation. Fernleaf lavender can tolerate mild frosts but should be protected in very cold regions.

Pruning: Regularly trim spent flowers to encourage more blooms. Lightly prune the plant to maintain its shape after flowering.

Fertilizer: Not a heavy feeder. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring for a boost of nutrients.

Spacing: Plant 30-45 cm apart to allow airflow and prevent moisture buildup.

With its delightful scent and delicate beauty, Fernleaf Lavender is perfect for attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies, making it a standout in any garden or landscape.
