Description

Clivia Growing Conditions
Light: Clivia prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but thrives with some morning or filtered afternoon sun. Avoid direct, harsh sunlight which can scorch the leaves.
Soil: This plant needs well-draining soil. A mix of standard potting soil with added sand or perlite for improved drainage is ideal. Clivia can tolerate slightly acidic to neutral soil pH.
Water: Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in the winter months when the plant is dormant.
Temperature: Clivia thrives in temperatures between 15-25°C (59-77°F). It prefers cooler conditions in winter, ideally around 10-15°C (50-59°F). Protect it from frost and extreme temperature fluctuations.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding during the dormant period in winter.
Maintenance: Remove spent flower stalks and any yellowing leaves to keep the plant healthy. Clivia benefits from occasional repotting every 2-3 years, preferably in spring.
Clivia is an attractive, low-maintenance plant with striking, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in early spring. Ideal for indoor settings or shaded outdoor areas, it adds a touch of elegance with minimal care requirements.
